Become a Foster

Foster - LOAD Dogs

Being a LOAD foster parent means you are saving the life of a dog who otherwise might not have a second chance. Foster parents allow us to continue our efforts in Puerto Rico and save as many dogs as possible.

Each dog is strategically matched by our team with a foster parent based on their application. We take into consideration preference in age/breed/size and the dog's needs. Our number one goal is to find the foster home that will best prepare our dogs for success.

Our team is always ready to help you take all necessary steps to ensure you and the dogs stay safe and comfortable. Some of our rescued animals will struggle to trust humans, in which case a foster parent with a resident dog is preferred to help teach the recue the ropes. The resident dog must be up to date on vaccines and spayed/nurtured.

You won’t be able to meet your foster dog in advance but we will always make a conscious effort to match you with a rescue that we feel both foster parents and resident dogs would do well with.

Age Requirement

All foster applicants must be 21 years of age or older

Ability to Provide

Provide a safe and loving home/environment with affection, socialization, meals and exercise to keep the dog happy and healthy.

Time Commitment

You might have a foster dog for as little as a couple weeks to as long as a few months, depending on how long it takes to find a forever home for them.

Medical Care

LOAD covers all essential vet costs for our dogs, and we have several vet partners who work with us to provide them with the best possible care.
